Review on Motorola Moto G

The Moto G on its launching day, gave me a surprise when this phone got an entity from Google. Earlier, Google certified phones were being manufactured by LG, Asus and Samsung and now Motorola with this device "Moto G" got the company's name incorporated in the list of Google certified phones. This device may have not been accompanied a flagship device from Motorola but still this can be appropriately said, this device will induce other manufacturers to get an entry in the list of certified devices' from Google.

I have found this phone, best ever buy with extravagant features and latest android v4.4 Kit-Kat. Globally, Motorola's Moto G priced less than $200, which is identical to INR 12K, a very comprehensive pricing with all latest features you always want to get out of your smartphone. Here, at this platform, I am likely to make you acquaint with most of its incredible specification and features.

I am briefly summarizing you with specifications, all it has got.

  1. Display Size ~ 4.5 Inches
  2. Resolution ~ 1,280*720
  3. Camera MP ~ 5-megapixels
  4. GPS ~ Enabled
  5. Size ~ 130*66*11.6 mm
  6. Internal Memory ~ 8096 MB
  7. Memory Card ~ No
  8. Wireless ~ GPRS, HSDPA, EDGE
  9. Weight ~ 143gm
  10. OS ~ Android 4.4
Initially, when Motorola announced to unveil "Moto G", I set me in taciturnity mode because I had assumed, that Motorola would be little skimped on quality but later, when I got a chance to connect with its technology and found that this device is Google certified , I set me in loquacious mode and started reviewing it and tried to delve every corner of this phone to get the most out of it.

The Good:-  Runs on Android 4.4 Kit Kat and often it'll get updated as soon as Google update its OS. Very less price as compare to LG, SONY, SAMSUNG, pitches this device extravagant from others. It's obviously compact and has got premium quality plastic and comprises of 6 different shades which looks it more identical to colorful iPhone 5c.

The Bad:- This device is not equipped with latest processor, it has quite slow processor, It has no LTE support, consequent upon, no 4G connection can be made. Screen is not bright, effulgent and colors are not vivid. No HDR app in camera mode, which is leading this device's snapshot, little blurred.

DESIGN AND BUILD

To be honest, This Moto G isn't a flaunting device that will something be popping out of your pocket most of the time because this Google Play Edition phone is not that fancy and not that ugly too either, but it is not so well identical to it's predecessor MOTO G.

It's got the size of 130*66*11.6 mm which can't be said slimmest ever, but for 4.5 inch display, it's quite slim and sleek, bezels are small and overall its a compact device. What's all mean to say it's body has curve shape and with the combination of back cover, which is made up of fine premium plastic is easy to wad in the pocket of even if one is fond of wearing skin hugging jeans'. This phone is, indeed, a handy device and easy to be operated through a single hand, unlike other devices' screens which is far bigger than this MOTO G's screen size is.

The back panel is made up of some fine and effulgent plastic, despite being mostly plastic , this phone is still capable of tempting and can be conquered with one sided old tumble like Xperia Z1 compact, Galaxy S4 mini in terms of money and body design. Well, already told about colors, it has got 6 different colors and back panel is interchangeable which may offer you different color taste. Unlikely, Xperia's flagship devices cover body, it's not that fragile and subtle, however, eye-wincingly trendy color and most importantly price of the device and Google certification won't fence off you being attracted.

The battery is embedded in device itself, this glossy back panel is complementary from Motorola in six different shades, for each of 17 $, there's also a complementary tough shell flip cover or cases for front side, they comprise an overall cost of 35$ approximately, with extra grip on the shell to make it hit and impact free.

FEATURES AND SOFTWARE

Obviously, when it comes to features and software, everyone will find more prominently what goes on the screen arguably beholding the body design. After acquiring Motorola, Google has the sole power to launch latest android version in this mobile collaboratively with MOTOROLA , which I was actually presuming, but hence, it is still be upgraded to V 4.4. Officially, it is launched in the market as a certified Google phone with Android V 4.3.1 and officially, their new version on Android has been released for Moto G. Here are some snapshots exclusively for you on this releasing Android Version 4.4.

UPDATED ANDROID V 4.4

The Motorola has its own UI and has left using Google's OS. There are still some assisting apps which may led you doing perfectly, what is expected to be done through this phone. For an instance, The assist app in this device makes your devices more intelligent, You can basically set your timings, at what time do you prefer to study or busy in blogging and you don't want to attend unwanted calls and want to set your phone being silent. It can be done from this assisting app and you may only able to receive calls from your own preferred choices' list. You're somewhere engaging in meeting and it is inevitable to attend calls, it can remain in vibration mode automatically to let you regain your concentration on meetings. I am still ambiguous, how it can do something exceptional like this. Technology is indeed on the run!

Some of powerful application database is acquainted in this MOTO G, being Assisting application and Motorola Migrate.

Motorola Migrate is very intelligible app and is lucid. One can easily swap the content from one phone to other and preferred mode of profile can easily be interchanged through this app. One is in meeting, had study or sleep timings, mode can be adjustable according to the preferences. Subtle contextual app, which changes alerts and other useful notifications according to the days and hours. As I already mentioned, the color body has got something incredible in as it has got rubber coated back panel, which is water repellent. Though, in Southern Asia, one doesn't have to worry about rainy and muddy season, but for Europe and America, this feature may be life-saving for a phone like MOTO G.

Finally, lets take a step forward and make me acquaint you with what all this phone has got with latest Android Version 4.4. The phone dallier is upgraded and now user can dial either a number or any sting of letter to get the exact contact number on board. It also supports the latest version of Google's Hangout, Obviously, it had to confront the name Google, which combines your instant message with your SMS on single screen, so that you won't have to swipe the screen to see SMS while hanging out with your friends and family on Google Hangouts. It has also got some extravagant feature like basic music controls and equalizer to operate on lock screen , it may lead you not unlock your screen again and subsequently pausing the track. Browser, I use it and found it real fast as compare to another devices. It can be reckoned as bonanza because this thing is being operated through SunSpider JavaScript browser.

SCREEN AND CAMERA

Here comes the most prominent thing, screen, if I say that, there is nothing much Motorola had to do with the screen of Moto G then it'd very inappropriate to say at this point of time. What we have seen a class apart, distinct from every species and entirely a cool and handy device. They've had little to do with this least expensive device and big thing to do with it's screen and we have seen an instance in form of MOTO G. At 4.5 inch screen with very less bezels at every corner, this device has screen size of 1280*720 with exactly the same figure iPhone 5S got. 326 PPI is giving this device's screen great boost and true color, however, I felt the colors are not vivid I'd expected to be. But I assume that this device's screen is best in it's class and stand one step ahead of every other device.

MOTO G SCREEN

Later, I started comparing Moto G screen brightness with my Xperia Z1 and Samasung Galaxy S3 and tweaked the automatic brightness up and I have found some extravagant results from it. Contrast was high as compare to Galaxy S3 and black was more rich and deep and colors were all fine but I found that true colors were not coming and they were still vibrant. I have found vibrancy in Red and Blue color but all in what all can I expect from such a low price device. Indeed, Motorola introduced a class device in this range. Here I show you, how does it look like when red screen goes on.

UI of MOTO G

Well this is imperative to say, top end phones having larger and larger screen size with vibrant colors, specifically fast processor and a gaming GUI won't be compared with this device. This device is not idealistic to play a game or watch a movie but at the par, this device is reaching to the top and making its place all over the android market because of its recognizance from Google and Competitive pricing and marketing strategy from MOTOROLA.

Camera app is quite interesting but has got little features as MOTOROLA build MOTO G based on some compromises with prices and that's where camera imperatively got short straw. Well, clearly it can't be compared with the other giants in this era like Xperia Z1 compact, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. It is not breaching the natural principle of camera though. However, this is little implicit and even apparently seen that this device has lack of HDR, despite providing an app feature in camera and the images being captures is little obscure.

CAMERA of MOTO G

After all the things reckoned though, I found that camera quality is not bad that much especially at this pricing and even when it is compared with Samsung, Sony and HTC. Image in good light is exceptionally well and same is witnessed by the image I am going to show you. There is definitely lack in HDR in low light and night vision is not at all cleared .

Day Light Image by Moto G

The camera application has got some stunning co-apps , which are supporting and giving boost to the root of the camera's hardware, however, there is nothing much with 5 MP camera but enhancement is the part of the software and that's all Motorola could have brought to us.

Functions in Camera Interface

All we have got in this camera app ~ flash light option, touch on the object to click the confirmed image and probably to emphasize on particular part of the image. Video recording with HDR is there in the fucntion, but I could not see the impact of HDR in the video and camera mode. The front camera, comprise of 1.3 MP and can shoot 720 P video recording. The automatic camera mode, really combats when it comes to mode (Day and Night). It starts struggles when there is varying light level. The range is too less even you have boosted the camera setting at the utmost level. At low level of light, the image quality becomes bad and it feels that 1.3MP camera is far better than this one.

CAMERA with HDR function

Here, you may see that HDR mode is given by Motorola in MOTO G, but it is least effective in night mode. However, this camera cannot be compared even with the handsets, who have got relatively same prices as Moto G's got. The MOTO G isn't impressive, the problems which are associated with the camera definitely is short range of imagse, blurred and obscured image which was not expected from MOTOROLA early launching this device.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION AND PERFORMANCE:-

Moto G Performance

After splitting up with Camera, I think bad news for this mobile ends and we can say pros commences from here, as Motorola did amazingly well with the processor of MOTO G, however, processor is still slow as compare to other high range mobiles but at the most, I can assure that in it's range, it has got powerful processor to get vanquished over it rivals. The Moto G is equipped with impressive Qualcomm A7 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM with Adreno 305 GI. I have been saying, for me 1 GB RAM is not appropriate in these smart phones cause these have lot to do more with them and lag problem is getting more often frequently, with these devices on board. Still one is using light apps can have hassle free multitasking.

The standard storage for Moto G is 8 GB and 16 GB in premium version with no allotment of other storage is there. This could be the week point of this phone as well. There is 50 GB of additional Google drive space for Google Music. This is incredibly well as Google Music is looking well furnished and with unmatched privilege to synchronize the Google Music with your Nokia Music or iPhone library or Sony Music, you can directly pick the songs and download them and save them in your sky drive storage.

BATTERY:-

As I already mentioned, that again there is a dejection for those, who use the device so frequently and their device may get lagged during any operation and they feel very hostile towards the manufacturer company. However, Moto G has a removable back panel but battery can't be removed or it is not operable manually, you must be have some different coding in your mind to get it immediate shut down after lagging.
The battery is backing up for a day, in here Motorola doesn't deject the buyers, as its official run time is one day and you'll probably get a complete day provided you're not too engaged in recording video, streaming cricket and playing where's my water. Well, there are certain figures which show that if you stream video online or make video recording it's battery drain at maximum 10 hours, however, I thank to Motorola despite this small device comprise of 2070 mAh battery. That is also mean, until you go back to your home, it takes care of everything in commuting but you incessantly need to plug in this device.

VERDICT:-

I can only assume that when I started comparing LG, Motorola, Sony and Samsung, I have found that there must be Google's sight on one of these manufactured company. Google might have found that Motorola was better to be owned and here we see an exceptional property Google and Motorola collaboratively made each other in form of MOTO G. There are lots of compromises which Motorola has made while building this device. I have found everything exceptionally good but being a camera by sacrificing Megapixel of MOTO G. Actually I feel, we own our camera to get the best picture clicked and use them to upload the pictures on Social Media website.

In my opinion Camera isn't a big deal, One has to see the range of price as well before concluding anything. One big issue I have found while reviewing this device was lack of LTE. This is exceptionally worrying because this mean, that people having great time on internet, may have to incur the slow speed of internet. This phone, traditionally, shouldn't be competed with other devices, as people are heading towards the 4G devices and this is missing which may be reluctant for buyers to buy this device.

This is little information, I have managed to bring for you. Hope it'll certainly help you out in getting collaborative information on this device.

Till then stay blessed..:)
